Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of treating disease using thin needles to stimulate specific points on the body. The premise behind acupuncture therapy is that people are energy beings with a central energy referred to as “Qi”. Qi flows from the body’s primary organs to the superficial tissue through channels called meridians. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, illness results from an abnormal flow of energy along one or more meridians. Acupuncture uses thin needles to stimulate specific acupuncture points along these meridians to help correct the flow of energy, therefore improving symptoms and creating wellness.
Acupuncture can be an effective treatment for hormone imbalances, sleep issues, and management of many on-going conditions. Acupuncture is also successfully used to improve skin tone through cosmetic acupuncture treatments.
Dr. Panesar completed her acupuncture training at the University of Alberta with North American expert Dr. Steven Aung, MD. Dr. Panesar furthered her training to include cosmetic acupuncture, which addresses skin tone and skin conditions. She has been practicing acupuncture for over 18 years.
